Victim? Not me...Really???

I don't know if I mentioned it but i have changed role and I am now a sgt on a shift

Started on Sunday officially at 7am. One of only 2 sgts (the other 2 were on leave). Didn't get too do much as I was moving all my kit over and getting to meet the new shift

However the PC's were absolutely shafted. We had 14 PC's with 17 prisoners to deal with from night before, 1 bed watch and one cell watch, and 23 jobs left over from the night shift still to attend including a violent domestic from 6am!

The night turn stayed on till 10am to cover some jobs much to their disgust but we had no option

Given it was probably one of the busiest nights of the year, they performed tremendously! They never once complained moaned or bitched - They just got on with it and this made our jobs easier. By the end of the day they were absolutely knackered so we all went for a beer ready for a relaxing evening at home.

Why am I telling you this?

I am trying to get the message across to you. Many of the prisoners in my view should not have been arrested. But government policies and targets drive us to arrest anyone for the slightest thing because it is the hot potatoe for the government.

Thankfully we are starting to get round to the fact that "real" victims need our help and the "not so real victims" can go whistle
